What is Crime Stoppers? CRIME STOPPERS at 995-2424 is a program designed to help solve crimes, and involves the community in doing so by asking the public to supply leads and information that may assist in solving such crimes.
The Phelps County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000.00 cash for information in solving the following crimes. You can call the 24-hour hotline, (308-995-2424) webmaster@phelpso.org or the Nebraska Crime Stoppers number at 1 (800) 422-1494. You may also contact the Nebraska Crimestopper's website at www.nebraskacrimestoppers. com .
You will not have to give your name and you may be eligible for a reward, if your tip results in an arrest.
Crime Stopper Crimes We Need Help With:
Between Friday, January 4th and Saturday, January 5th, 2008 someone used a small caliber weapon to shoot windows out of a parked pickup in the area of 736 road in rural Phelps County. Also: On January 8th, 2008 Southern Public Power District began to notice many meters, transformers and switch boxes shot up in the same area as the pickup and now it is believed the incidents are related.
The area of damage in Phelps County is near 744 Rd to "R" Rd and "R" Rd South to the area of 736 Rd and possibly could include Kearney County. Early estimates are in the thousands of dollars as the power company searches for more damaged property

Who runs Crime Stoppers? CRIME STOPPERS is run by Phelps County men and women who, like you , want to take an active part in stopping the increase of crime in the area. This citizen's board of Directors guides the CRIME STOPPERS program. This program is coordinated through a police officer assigned to CRIME STOPPERS.
Who funds Crime Stoppers? CRIME STOPPERS does not receive any funding from State or Federal sources. It is a community project totally supported by your donations of money, goods and services. Donations come from private sources, corporations, clubs, professional associations, retailers, civic and social groups, as well as individuals. All contributions are tax deductible.
How does Crime Stoppers Work? Each week, the facts about an unsolved crime are aired on radio and printed in area newspapers. Citizens are asked to call CRIME STOPPERS if they have any information regarding the crime. An easy to remember number. 995-2424 was set up for CRIME STOPPERS. It is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All calls are kept in complete confidence. Citizens supplying information which leads to an arrest and filing of charges may be eligible for a reward of up to $1000.00, and may remain anonymous.
How can you become involved? Call CRIME STOPPERS at 995-2424 any time you have information about an unsolved crime. You can support CRIME STOPPERS by donating either time, talents, goods, services or funds. You can lend real support by becoming involved in the citizens' Board of Directors and helping in the direct administration of the program and determining rewards.
